FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Opening of Request for Proposal to Brand Maryland’s Craft Beverage Alcohol Industry
[ANNAPOLIS, MD – October 20] – The Brewers Association of Maryland is excited to announce the opening of a Request for Proposal (RFP) aimed at branding and promoting Maryland’s thriving craft beverage alcohol industry. Home to over 300 licensed breweries, cideries, distilleries, meaderies, and wineries, Maryland’s craft beverage alcohol offerings are authentic and locally produced, providing a diverse range of libations for consumers and visitors alike.
Despite the richness and quality of Maryland’s craft beverages, the industry faces stiff competition, historically underpromoted and at a disadvantage compared to its regional counterparts. Until now, these diverse beverage categories have marketed themselves independently, limiting their outreach to specific audiences. However, as consumer preferences evolve, the lines between product categories blur, creating a unique opportunity to reach a broader and more diverse target audience.
Maryland’s craft beverage alcohol industry is currently navigating multiple challenges, including closures, acquisitions, and consolidations of breweries, wineries, distilleries, and alcohol wholesalers. Consumer preferences, access to capital, retail saturation, and economic uncertainties continue to pose ongoing concerns for industry players.
Project Goals
The primary goal of this project is to develop a brand used to promote all locally crafted alcohol product types, strengthening the position of locally produced beverages in a highly competitive market. By doing so, it supports existing businesses, encourages new entrants, and bolsters Maryland’s manufacturers, retailers, and wholesalers. Furthermore, the project aims to increase awareness about the state’s craft beverage industry and drive demand for locally made alcoholic beverages. This initiative is expected to run over several years and will roll out in distinct phases.
